Understanding Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its role in the future of the UK construction industry
Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been around for years. It is only now that we are beginning to see the tipping point past which BIM will be used on the majority of construction projects in the future.
On 31 May 2011 the Government’s Construction Strategy set out a firm commitment to requiring the use of BIM on all its assets by 2016. There has never been a better time to ensure that your organisation is ‘BIM ready’.
200 heads of industry attended ICE BIM 2011 and were led through the BIM project lifecycle thanks to an expert speaker line up, and shared experiences and best practice . The day featured detailed case studies and discussions on how BIM can be of benefit throughout the supply chain, focussing on:
- The client view
- Supply chain delivery
- Support
- Asset management
The conference was a key meeting for engineers, consultants, contractors, architects, owners and operators of construction projects and had the support of the major UK construction institutions and associations.
ICE BIM 2012 will take place on Wednesday 17 October 2012 at a Central London venue.
We are keen for your input in ICE BIM 2012.
